Artist Handmade Valentine's Day Gifts
I live in the North and I love the month of February. Am I crazy? Think, Winter and snow and ice and co-o-o-ld! I don't care. I love February. First of all, it's the month I was born in. Already a plus in my estimation! And despite the association with white snow and purple amethyst, I associate the color red with February. Probably only because red is my favorite color (though it goes very well with both white and purple).
As a youngster I could almost count on my brother giving me a heart shaped box of candy for my birthday. At a year and a few months younger than me, was he counting on my sharing the sweets? I should ask him. But it makes sense - the giver should get pleasure out of giving as much as the recipient gets pleasure from receiving the gift.
No doubt you are seeing lots of commercials for Valentine's Day gifts, mostly featuring diamond jewelry. They claim diamonds are special - and maybe they are - but with the prices these stones command you have to give up on uniqueness. Much better are gifts that speak to the recipient's individuality, gifts that are as special as they are and as beautiful. Consider the recipient's preferences. Does she like bold, wild colors? Sparkly things? Dramatic intensity? Or does she prefer subtle shifts of tone, conservative elegance without being boring?
