My anklets are unlike any you have ever encountered before.
Not strung, but woven, they
can be worn for both formal and casual occasions.
The weave you see here is called right angle weave.
Each bead is at right angles (90 degrees) to every other bead as a look at this
close-up of the weave will show. It is a very sturdy weave with a delightfully delicate look. Intersperesed throughout the basic weave
are three special beads. Most often I like to use colorful Swarovski faceted bicones, some with special finishes. Other times I use a
variety of interesting beads including other faceted beads as well as cloisonné and the occasional semi-precious gemstone bead.
Choosing the correct size of an anklet requires a bit more thought than choosing a bracelet size. For one thing, anklets don't slide
up and down the leg as bracelets do the arm. As well, the drape of an anklet varies with each person. Some prefer a drape above the ankle,
almost fitting tightly, while other prefer a looser drape either at or, more commonly, below the ankle bone. I, myself, prefer a looser
drape just below the bone. this looks good both barefoot and over socks or stockings. My ankle is about seven and three-quarters inches in
circumference and I wear a nine inch (or so, I don't mind a bit smaller or larger) anklet. My advice for measuring and choosing yours
is to take a string and tie it around your ankle with the same drape as you'd like your anklet. Cut the string (do not untie it) and then
measure the length of the string. Simply state your size in your order (see below) and I will custom create the anklet
just for you.
I can also custom design and create orders in other color combinations at your request. Please contact me to discuss your preferences.
