Dreams and Delights Countdown

Next week at this time I will be packing up after a successful afternoon, early evening hybrid Open Studio, Exhibition, and Sale. The complimentary food and drinks will be gone. A lot of guests will be on their way home with their finds that they have purchased or ordered.

My goal is to create a recurring pre-holiday-craziness event that does indeed delight the senses and gift an afternoon of relaxation and enjoyment for everyone who comes. Maybe someday it will be a fixture, an artist and artisan event that everyone looks forward to.

For my first experience organizing something, I think it’s going well. I’ve got two other artisans (Jessica Hazan, The Soup Girl and Nancy Fronermann, Woolen It Be Nice) and Helen’s Teas itself. I’d love to have on more person, say a candle maker or flower arranger, or maybe someone who creates make up or skin care products, but it’s fine as it is. I planned and got done most of the promotional tasks. I learned I don’t enjoy press releases and that I need to actively schedule online marketing via facebook, twitter and wherever else I can.

I am excited, no doubt about it! So, seven more days and counting.

What should I bring? What would you bring?

Good luck with this Patricia! I will be anxious to hear if your expectations are met. This is such a cool idea and something I’ve wanted to do in my own area for a long time but have never taken the initiative as you have.

Thank you. Maybe this will inspire you to look into taking that step after all. 🙂

I would bring as many items as you can comfortably fit within your space. I think variety not only creates more choices for your potential customers, but it also creates quality in your workmanship. Good Luck with everything!!

I think you are right. Variety also keeps people interested! Thank you! 🙂

Bring a set of inexpensive bedrisers (Target, Walmart) to lift your table up out of “backache” level, into “easily viewed” lever. Bring the biggest mirror you can comfortably haul, and encourage people to try on your work, so they can see themselves wearing it, and others can too!

  6. Patricia C Says:

Oh! That’s something I do need to do – get some bedrisers! Thanks!

Don’t forget to bring a Guest Book. You can gather addresses and emails, a great mailing list for future events/announcements.
    I wish you great success!

  8. Patricia C Says:

Ileana, I do remember to bring that but I sometimes forget to put it out! Your reminder will keep me on my toes. Thanks!

    Here’s hoping everything goes super-fantastic!

Good luck with it all Patricia – it sounds like a fantastic initiative. I would make sure not only to bring variety as others have said but ensure in that there are plenty of price points, lots of change and a book for commission orders… you never know what might happen.

Glenda, I am so very much hoping for commissions. I love those because they can sometimes inspire me to go in a direction I hadn’t considered previously. ThankS
